Health Inspectorate of the Republic of Latvia (hereinafter “Inspectorate”) would like to inform you that on 1 January 2016 a new regulation [1] came to force, stipulating a procedure for notifying the Inspectorate of a beauty care and tattooing business [2].

Due to increased risks of spreading contagious diseases while providing services and non-compliance with hygiene requirements being one of the main causes for spreading of such diseases, beauty care and tattooing service providers are subject to enhanced surveillance.

According to the new regulations service providers are required to present employee education certificates stipulated in applicable hygiene regulations (e.g., applicable to tanning salon, tattoo parlour and piercing studio operators) and verify the conformity of services with hygiene requirements set out in various laws and regulations.

NB! Notification requirement applies to all newly registered service providers and previously-registered providers who intend to change the structure of their business, for instance, move to another business location or introduce new services, etc.

Lodging a notification:

  • a signed notification form may be delivered or posted to Klijānu iela 7, Riga, LV-1012. Electronic form available here;
  • providers can also fill in and submit e-form via www.latvija.lv. Go to e-service section "Submission to the State Health inspection". For particular e-form, use one of these links: legal entities or private individuals.

  • electronic notification signed with secured eSignature* may also be sent to vi@vi.gov.lv. For particular e-form, use one of these links: legal entities or private individuals.
    * A secure electronic signature, or eSignature, is electronic data linked with signatory, a unique eID certificate (containing name, surname, personal ID code, etc.), which may be used to sign electronic documents. Detailed information on eSignatures available here.
    NB! Unsigned notification forms submitted via e-mail are not valid or eligible for further review by the Inspectorate.
