The Health Inspectorate of the Republic of Latvia is the Competent Authority in Latvia to which the serious undesirable effects (SUEs) of cosmetics should be notified.
 
As the Cosmetics Regulation foresees an uniform approach to the communication of SUEs, the harmonized notification form, developed by the Commission ‘SUE form A’ (available on http://ec.europa.eu/consumers/sectors/cosmetics/documents/guidelines/sue_en.htm)   should be filled inorder to transmit the information to the Competent Authority.

<![CDATA[Cosmetic products notification requirements]]>According to the Regulations No 354 of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Latvia “Essential Requirements for Cosmetic Products, Labelling thereof and Procedures for Supervision of Compliance with these Requirements” (20.04.2004) (further in text - Regulations No. 354), the notification of cosmetic product at the Health Inspectorate (further in text - Inspectorate) is required before placing the product on Latvian market.

<![CDATA[The Health Inspectorate informs entrepreneurs on changes in submission of information regarding cosmetic products]]>In 21 May 2011 amendments [1] to Regulations No 354 of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Latvia came into force cancelling the requirement for distributors of the cosmetic products to submit to the Inspectorate information on the composition of the cosmetic products for purposes of medical treatment.
