Notification of beauty care and tattooing services provision

Health Inspectorate of the Republic of Latvia (hereinafter “Inspectorate”) would like to inform you that on 1 January 2016 a new regulation [1] came to force, stipulating a procedure for notifying the Inspectorate of a beauty care and tattooing business [2].

Due to increased risks of spreading contagious diseases while providing services and non-compliance with hygiene requirements being one of the main causes for spreading of such diseases, beauty care and tattooing service providers are subject to enhanced surveillance.

According to the new regulations service providers are required to present employee education certificates stipulated in applicable hygiene regulations (e.g., applicable to tanning salon, tattoo parlour and piercing studio operators) and verify the conformity of services with hygiene requirements set out in various laws and regulations.

NB! Notification requirement applies to all newly registered service providers and previously-registered providers who intend to change the structure of their business, for instance, move to another business location or introduce new services, etc.
